About the host:

Denver-born songwriter and artist AJ Smith has opened for The Eagles and Lindsey Stirling, performed in the off-Broadway and West End hit Close to You: Burt Bacharach Reimagined, and has been featured on radio stations including iHeart’s DC101, Z100, and Eagle 97.7. Smith plays ten instruments and his style is born out of his genre-crossing experiences including touring as fiddler in folk-bluegrass band The Circuit Riders, winning Best Original Performance in NYU’s prestigious 2011 UltraViolet Live Talent Competition (the same contest in which Lady Gaga competed as a student), and charting at #3 in Australia for his club track “Summertime,” praised by BeatMyDay for Smith’s “majestic vocals.” Having received both his undergraduate and graduate degrees in songwriting and film scoring from New York University, Smith has studied and worked with songwriting greats including Glenn Frey, Roseanne Cash, Phil Galdston, and Barry Eastmond. Smith’s mastery of songwriting led to his recognition by the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Carole Bayer Sager Songwriting Scholarship.

MAE KRELL

On the surface, Mae Krell looks like your average teenager. They wear their hair occasionally pink and sport a band T-shirt whenever they can. They hang out at rock shows and love watching Post Malone’s early acoustic videos on Youtube. However, Mae possesses a stark ability that is only apparent once you hear their songs. The 19-year-old songwriter touches on the most vulnerable parts of growing up in 2018. “I don’t want to be portrayed as too put together. I’m still working on myself. I’m constantly changing and growing and falling apart and coming back together.”

PETER WISE

Peter Wise is a soul / pop / rock singer/songwriter based out of Brooklyn, New York. Sharing the stage with the likes of The Eagles and Liza Anne and collaborating with acts ranging from Chicago to Mali Music, Wise is building a name through his unique blend of introspective lyricism and modern soul. After releasing an EP in 2016 garnering attention from publications around the world and shows around the country, Wise returns with his full length album, Unattached. The music publication Substream Magazine remarks on Unattached:

The term “Unattached” serves various purposes on Wise’s album. It’s obviously the name of the album, it’s the title of the album’s first track, and it serves as a theme throughout the runtime. On the title track Wise sings of suddenly packing up and living a nomadic existence crossing the country while also paying tribute to the musicians, authors, and artists who have trail-blazed that type of journey before him. While that message stays largely present throughout Unattached, Wise’s musical skills and tastes spread far and wide across the 10 songs. Wise showcases his impressibly deft and nuanced guitar playing on every track, from “Feel The Rain”‘s moving rock ballad chords to pop-rock vibes of previous single and absolute joy “Sandcastle State Of Mind.” Want a great duet to croon with your best friend? Wise lets loose his falsetto on “Can’t Do It Alone” and brings along Tiger Darrow for an effective love song. If you’re in the mood for an old-school, larger-than-life rock behemoth, Wise unleashes everything he has across seven minutes on “Not Anymore/Get On Through.” Throughout all of Unattached Wise never falters, always digging deeper and deeper into his skillset and his psyche to create an album you don’t want to miss.

Wise will be hitting the road this summer and fall to support the album. Look for him coming to a city near you!
